The Community Candidate

I’ve ALWAYS been deeply involved with my community – long before it was the politically motivated thing to do!

Community.  It’s the word taught to me by my parents and grandparents.  It’s the place where you live, work and play.

As a lifelong member of the Mountaintop Community, I have done my best to give back – both professionally and personally.

Community and giving back to my community is the #1 issue that sets me apart from my competitors!!!

My first jobs were cutting grass in Highland Woods, washing dishes at the Chalet and delivering door-to-door Mountaintop Eagle newspapers.  My family was always in the restaurant / customer service business.  From Augustine’s Restaurant in Georgetown, to Pasta Lovers – where Walgreen’s stands now, to “Augies Rib’s”, a restaurant my grandfather owned at the current Junie G’s site, where I was chief bottle washer.

In 1993, I proudly became a working member of ARENA YES!  It was difficult to understand why folks didn’t want an AHL hockey team. Not to mention a venue to host Disney shows, the circus, numerous events like wrestling and monster trucks, sports and concerts. Thankfully, it was our grassroots efforts that led to the construction of the crown jewel of our community which continues to shine today!

I started the Rice Township Neighborhood Watch Program.  It was created as an avenue to keep our community safe, but also as a means for us to welcome and know our neighbors. Last year, I coordinated the first ever state of the Mountain Top community and crime prevention event. It attracted over 200 people at Crestwood High School.

I also serve on the board and donate my time to develop the website for the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop “P” Camp Cadet program.

As a member of St. Jude’s, I was instrumental in helping to create the International Festival. It continues to be one of the top fundraisers for the new church. By the way, I went to school there, too. I served as an altar boy, then attended Bishop Hoban High School and King’s College.  I currently serve on the President’s Council at King’s as well as the advisory board for the McGowan School of Business.

I’m a member of the Kiwanis, Mountaintop on the Move, FOP Lodge, American Legion, PA Camp Cadet, UNICO, and Friendly Sons of St. Patrick. I’m on the Board of Directors at the Mountain Top Youth Soccer Association, Mountain Top Kirby library, Leadership Wilkes-Barre, and Ben Franklin Technology Partners.  I’ve also coached and refereed youth sports; including soccer, basketball and baseball and have served on the CYC board.

While serving as Director of the LCCC Foundation, I helped raise the necessary funds to help build the Public Safety Training Institute. This provides comprehensive, hands-on emergency response training for our local emergency personnel.

I’m responsible for coordinating the decorating the holiday lights at the triangle each year with our local service clubs. I’m also a long time contributor to our fire departments, law enforcement and ambulance service.

For the past 10 years, my role with the chamber of commerce as senior director has led to 100’s of new and GOOD paying jobs in the Crestwood Industrial Park.  Most recently we held a ribbon cutting for LOOK Trailers. This company will employ more than 75 good paying, MANUFACTURING jobs.  I worked hard to locate companies like Cardinal Glass, and Mission Foods. I also assisted with the expansion of Gatorade and helped keep and expand Fairchild semi-conductor – now called ON Semiconductor.

I’m proud to say that I was recognized by both the Times Leader and Northeastern PA Business Journal as one of the “Top Twenty Under 40” professionals in our area.

I’ve also served as an adjunct professor at Penn State Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton & Scranton/Worthington, King’s College and Luzerne County Community College.

I’m proud of my accomplishments in our Community.  I challenge anyone to put their record up and against mine. Regardless of the election, my effort to make our community a better place will continue.

I promise to be a fair, honest and neutral judge. And I will do my best to respect the person, the position, the law and the impartial verdict.

On behalf of myself, my wife Kristine, and children Jack and Jill, I humbly request your vote!!!

Thank You
